Schedule wish

I would like to be able to specify the day of the week in the schedule syntax. In my case, I would like increase the rate on weekends.

Maybe even implement some kind of pipe/socket reading so that external programs (in this case a cron script) can send commands to rtorrent.

It's called xmlrpc.

Ok, I investigated about xmlrpc, installed the libs, and rebuilt rtorrent with them.

Now when I start rtorrent, it says: "XMLRPC initialized with 246 functions."

I configured rtorrent with: scgi_port = localhost:5000

I can see (using netstat) that rtorrent is listening on port 5000, however, when I run: xmlrpc localhost:5000 system.listMethods

The xmlrpc program just hangs. The man page says nothing about xmlrpc, so I am lost.

BTW, why xmlrpc and not dbus or dcop?

Because xmlrpc works.

You need an SCGI server to go between rtorrent and the xmlrpc client. Read the wiki.
