Seed behavior on super big torrents broken?!

Hi, Im not sure if I ran into an error, or if im just unlucky @ seeding.

Im currently seeding a supermassive torrent with rtorrent 0.7.9/0.11.9 The torrent has ~27k files, is 15,6gb big and was created via 5.x mainline. (8mb pieces)

I uploaded more than 30gb already, (ratio 2.25) but the swarm is still only at ~62 % !

Now I know, rtorrent has no superseed function, but 3+ ratio to get a torrent done seems like a bit too high.

Maybe rtorrent sending same packets too often?

whops, maybe it´d been better to switch component to rtorrent... well, its using libtorrent so no idea which component (if) causes this behavior

Lacking super-seed mode, libtorrent/rtorrent cannot choose what pieces it sends, instead the peers decide what pieces to request.

An 8MB piece size is very inefficient and compounding the problem especially with many peers who will have a hard time getting complete pieces from the other peers. The faster your upload is and the slower theirs, the more data you have to send before there can be another seed because you're the best source for completing these large chunks.

Furthermore, if there is a significant number of peers that are downloading only a selection of the files, they won't contribute to the completion much but still suck bandwidth.

In summary, the only fault of libtorrent/rtorrent here is the lack of super-seed mode. Everything else is out of its control. Yell at your peers to share more. Or re-make the torrent with 2MB or smaller pieces.
